The 7th Pakistan Microfinance country forum concluded last week at Ramada Hotel, Islamabad with a joint agenda for empowering the women in Pakistan. Khushhali Microfinance Bank the largest Microfinance bank was a joint sponsor of this event.
The topic for this year’s forum was “Striking a Balance between Poverty Reduction and Access to Finance” and comprised two interactive sessions on ‘Poverty Reduction – An Attainable Goal’ and ‘Access to Finance – Technology at Hand’, including a panel discussion on the theme.
Addressing the event Chief guest Dr, Prof Ahsan Iqbal Federal Minister for Planning & Development and Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of Pakistan applauded the efforts made by the Microfinance sector of Pakistan in poverty alleviation. He said, “Poverty in Pakistan in not very deep, it needs meaningful intervention so that it can generate growth that is inclusive; microfinance is not about doling out cash transactions but developing skills that can augment the poorer segments of society.”
The event was attended by a large number of national and international experts in microfinance sector who shared their ideas and suggestions using Microfinance sector in the best possible way to reduce poverty from Pakistan.
Mr. Ghalib Nishtar President Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited while addressing the event highlighted the importance of Microfinance Sector and the challenges faced in outreach and impact. The banking veteran also highlighted the significant success achieved by Khushhali Microfinance Bank in field of Women Empowerment.
Other Experts also stressed upon the importance of Microfinance sector and empowering the Women as one of the best possible solution of reducing poverty.
